The Apalanthe granatensis is a well-adapted aquatic plant that can be commonly found in South American tropical areas. The first time this plant showed up was in 1994 when it was important by Christel Kasselmann from eastern Brazil. From there, it became successfully cultivated was in a various number of botanical gardens, but has ceased to be employed in European cultivation. The waterweed-like stem plants feature narrow leaves that are only 2 cm long and 1 mm wide, growing in whorls of up to seven on a stem.
