The Aponogeton crispus is periodically spotted in ponds and swamps in Sri Lanka. One interesting thing about this plant is that it prefers to grow in ponds that are only full with water when the rainy season is active, but that does not mean it needs a resting phase when it is maintained as an aquarium plant. In fact, the plane is very easy to take care of and suitable for aquarium keepers that don't have a lot of time to maintain the plants or those who are just beginning. The plant requires substrate that is nutrient rich as well as sufficient Lighting in order to thrive – that is all. While it does prefer water that is sLighting: ly acidic, it can also thrive well when the water environments have a pH level that is higher. No extra CO2 injection has required this plant to bloom, as it grows rapidly just by nature. Because this plant is so large in size, the hobbyist must have a rather large aquarium tank in order to accommodate it, and even more, a very deep tank because it grows to be extremely tall. For those reasons, this plant is regularly used as background plants, and it does a sufficient job at covering the back wall decoratively.
