The Aponogeton eggersii is a high growing plant that is easily found in eastern Madagascar along the Anove river. The first hundred species was discovered was in 1998, in Germany, by gerd Eggers, but it was not until 2001 when the species became officially scientifically described. This small plant can grow to be as long as a meter and has long leathery leaves that can be green, or even dark olive green-like an appearance. This plant is very easy to be cultivated, and does not need a resting phase in order to thrive, even though a very large and deep aquarium tank is needed in order for the plants to reach their optimum height.
