C. x willisii "lucens" lends itself to creating slender-leaved, dense, medium green bushes in the fore- and middleground of aquascapes. In tanks of enough height, C. x willisii "lucens" may even be used as a carpet to cover the ground. It is a slow growing alternative to a few Helanthium species, whose runners are frequently too invasive.
In dense, high-grown tufts of C. x willisii "lucens" the rhizomes were known to develop upright; then they must be trimmed back necessarily.
