PEACOCK MOSS (TAXIPHYLLUM SP. 'PEACOCK) is a lovely densely growing moss exhibiting elongated triangular shaped fronds that is quickly becoming a favorite among aquascapers. It closely resembles Christmas moss, the genus of Vesicularia sp which generally has a harder and rough texture. Taxiphyllum have a softer, more velvet texture.
As the name implies, when well grown, it resembles the fan tail of a peacock.
As with most mosses, it does better in water that is not too hot (78F or lower) and in cooler temperature at about 25°C. In higher temperature about 30°C, the moss starts to loose it peacock-shaped fronds.
Unlike other mosses, Peacock Moss is a fast grower and can easily fill out a small aquarium if not maintained properly.
