Rotala wallichii is an elegant stem plant discovered in soft, acidic bodies of water in southeast Asia, in which it is much more often observed developing submerged and in deeper water than associated species. It produces flower spikes decorated with brilliant, purple flora.

A stunning, lush, fine-needled plant. This plant's coloring is more pink than the gold displayed in the image.

Although not the easiest of aquatic plants to grow, R. wallichii is one of the most popular, usually available red stem flora in the hobby.
