This is a beautiful tall hairgrass that is often used in Mr. Amano's Nature Aquariums.
Eleocharis vivipara closely resembles the Eleocharis acicularis but it does grow a lot taller. They are not a demanding plant but do require nutrients in the substrate.
It is often used as a background in Iwagumi layouts (Japanese style stone arrangements) The fresh green color and soft hair like leaves contrast well and softens the look of rock scapes.
