Finding itself a part of the Pithophoraceae family, the Aegagropila linnaei is also commonly referred to as Marimo, which actually translates into “ball seaweed” in Japanese. Typically these are found in lakes, but can also find some planted tanks to be suitable domiciles for their colony forming tendencies.
